Abstract: This study examines the socio-spatial fragilities arising from suburbanisation driven by globalisation and population growth in the context of suburban areas in Turkey. It defines the limitations of traditional planning as outdated narratives and asks the following question: How can antifragile planning be integrated into the suburban futures of cities as a new narrative? Methodologically, this study is conceived as a theoretical and conceptual contribution rather than an empirical data analysis. It conducts a critical literature review and comparison to assess the limitations of existing planning paradigms. The paper examines how the concept of antifragility developed by Nassim Nicholas Taleb and Terje Aven offers a transformative planning approach that not only resists shocks but also turns uncertainties into opportunities. The findings suggest that such narratives can reduce inequalities, strengthen communities and contribute to suburban environments that are more just, innovative and equitable in the face of urban uncertainties.
